Physician – Outpatient Behavioral Health Medical Director

St. Peters Health Partners Medical Associates is seeking to recruit a Medical Director to lead our outpatient mental health services on behalf of Ellis Outpatient Behavioral Health in Schenectady, NY. This opportunity offers a 0.3 administrative and 0.7 clinical role, combining direct patient care with leadership responsibilities.

As the Outpatient Medical Director, you will work closely with the chair to oversee both the clinical and operational aspects of outpatient mental health services, ensuring access to exceptional care. You will provide leadership in the day-to-day operations, clinical supervision, and training of our multidisciplinary team, which includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and social workers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative: Leadership, clinical supervision, and oversight of outpatient clinic providers, including training, teaching, and clinical guidance.
  • Participate in case reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and maintain operational efficiency in collaboration with the administrative and clinical supervisory teams.
  • Clinical: Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, and management of mental health conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with a dedicated team of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, other clinical staff, and community stakeholders.

Our Outpatient Services Include:

  • Adult mental health clinic with integrated primary care
  • Child and adolescent mental health clinic
  • Personalized recovery-oriented services program
  • Crisis diversion services for adults and children/families
  • A current outpatient team of 4 psychiatrists and 6 psychiatric nurse practitioners
  • The outpatient services are part of the larger Ellis Psychiatry department, which also includes crisis, inpatient adult, and inpatient adolescent psychiatric hospital units. Close collaboration across outpatient, inpatient, crisis, and crisis-diversion services ensures comprehensive care for our patients.

Requirements:

  • Applicants should have the following:
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry;
  • Experience in an outpatient setting is also preferred;
  • DEA Licensure/NYS licensure required;
  • Applicants should possess excellent clinical skills, communication skills and a strong commitment to providing excellent care that is team oriented;

Recruitment Package Includes:

  • Salary: $320,000 – $340,000, commensurate with experience.
