St. Peter’s Health Partners is seeking an experienced Lead Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our General Surgery team at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY. This is a unique leadership opportunity for a seasoned PA to step into a supervisory role, working closely with the surgical team to provide clinical care and administrative oversight. The Lead PA will be responsible for mentoring and managing fellow physician assistants, ensuring high standards of patient care and supporting departmental goals. Prior leadership experience and demonstrated success in leading clinical teams is required. A $10,000 annual leadership stipend is included in addition to a competitive base salary.
Position Highlights:
- Collaborate with surgeons in General, Bariatric, and Urology surgeries, including minimally invasive and robotic procedures
- Responsibilities include first assisting in surgery, admissions, and rounding
- Campus-based at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, NY
- Schedule: Two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts per week
- Weekend coverage: currently 1 in 4
Qualifications:
- Active NYS licensure and DEA registration
- Graduate of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program
- Board Certification required
- Prior leadership experience and team management in a clinical setting required
- Experienced candidates strongly preferred, although new grads will be considered
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $135,276 – $155,567
- $10,000 annual leadership stipend
- $7,500 starting bonus (paid in first payroll month)
- $5,000 retention bonus at 2nd anniversary
- $5,000 retention bonus at 3rd anniversary
- $5,000 relocation assistance (if >50 miles from Albany)
